The Information Systems (IS) program is for students who want to design and implement effective solutions to meet organizational and management needs for information and decision support. The discipline is ideal for those students interested in interfacing information technology tools and professions to the needs of an organization. Information Systems is concerned with the information that computer systems can provide to aid a company, non-profit or governmental organization in defining and achieving its goals. It is also concerned with the processes that an enterprise can implement using information technology. IS professionals must understand both technical and organizational factors, and must be able to help an organization determine how information and technology-enabled business processes can improve organizational performance. There is no application deadline. Admission is continuous. Students may begin any of the six session start dates each year.
Graduates can become software and web developers, database and security analysts, network administrators. Those skills are in high demand and frequently rated as top job opportunities. Job outlook (2012-22) Web Developers* Job outlook: 20% increase Wages: The median annual salary for web developers was $62,500 in 2012, or $30.05 per hour. Software Developers* Job outlook: 22% increase Wages: The median annual salary for software developers was $93,350 in 2012, or $44.88 per hour. Information Systems Analysts* Job outlook: 37% increase Wages:The median annual salary for information systems analysts was $86,170 in 2012, or $41.43 per hour. Network and Computer Systems Administrators* Job outlook: 12% increase Wages: The median annual salary for network and computer systems administrators was $72,560 in 2012, or $34.88 per hour.
Upper Iowa University uses NetTutor, a free online tutoring service integrated directly into the UIU LMS, so students have single sign-on access. NetTutor tutors are subject matter experts with previous teaching or tutoring experience. They are full-time tutors, and all have at least a bachelor’s degree; most also have post-graduate degrees. A full list of course offerings and their schedules can be found on the NetTutor website. NetTutor is available 24/7.

PLEASE NOTE:

If there are fewer than eight enrollments in the training program, only the "Enrollments" number will be displayed; all other data is hidden in order to help protect the students' identities. Most employers are required to report certain employment information to the State of Wisconsin, including quarterly wage information for their employees. Students whose information could not be verified in this database are excluded from these outcomes. MAKING SENSE OF THE EMPLOYMENT OUTCOMES:

"Average quarterly wages" means the total wages earned in a three-month period by all students who completed the program ("completers"), divided by the total number of completers.

"Median quarterly wages" means all the completers' quarterly wages are placed in order from lowest to highest and then we identify the student's wages in the middle. This information is provided because averages can be greatly influenced by really high and low wage earners.

To estimate monthly wages, divide the quarterly wages by three.
